As someone who follows vegan news closely, it’s been positively dizzying trying to keep track of all the new vegan products that are about to hit the market. The skyrocketing success of companies like Impossible Foods and Beyond Meat have ignited a race as to who can produce the meatiest, tastiest, and even bloodiest plant-based alternatives to meat.
Veggie brands like MorningStar, who’ve been around for decades, are being forced to innovate and introduce “next-gen” versions of their products. And, in a fascinating turn of events, major meat producers like Hormel and Smithfield Foods (truly horrible companies who have been responsible for heinous animal cruelty) are launching their own plant-based meats for the first time.
Here is a list of new, updated, and revamped vegan products that are slated to come to market in just the next year:
Gardein’s Ultimate Line

About ten or so years ago, Gardein set the gold standard for meatless meats. But now, with competition from newer companies like Beyond and Impossible, Gardein is being forced to innovate once again. The company recently announced they will be launching their next-gen Ultimate line at some point this year.
Beyond Bacon… And A Possible Revamped Beyond Meat Chicken Product
Beyond Meat CEO, Ethan Brown, revealed in an interview this summer that the next big product launch from his company will most likely be a plant-based bacon product. According to Brown, it’s currently being developed and tested. Additionally, Beyond stated during KFC’s vegan chicken day in Atlanta that they pulled their vegan chicken product from shelves earlier this year because they felt it needed an upgrade. Could we see a new and improved Beyond Meat chicken product hitting supermarkets soon? Let’s hope so.
MorningStar Farms’ Incogmeato Line

One of the most recognizable veggie brands, MorningStar Farms has been around for more than 40 years. Like Gardein, MorningStar just recently announced that they will also be launching a next-gen line called Incogmeato. The upgraded line includes three products for now: a burger, chik’n nuggets, and chik’n tenders.
Sweet Earth’s Awesome Burger
Nestlé, the world’s largest food producer, revealed they will be introducing a “bleeding” veggie burger to compete with Beyond and Impossible under their Sweet Earth brand. The “Awesome Burger” should be available in supermarkets sometime later this year.
Simple Truth’s Plant-Based Line

Kroger brand Simple Truth will be introducing a host of new vegan products this year that includes deli slices, sausages, cream cheese, cookie dough, meatless ground beef, and more. Expect to see these in Kroger and Kroger-owned supermarkets (Ralphs, Dillons, Smith’s, etc.) starting this fall.
Pure Farmland by Smithfield Foods

Horrible factory farming shit company, Smithfield Foods, must know that if they continue to only sell animal-based meats, their days are numbered. The major meat producer will be launching meatless burgers, meatballs, and a beefless ground by mid-September under their new Pure Farmland label.
Happy Little Plants by Hormel

Hormel, another animal abuse profiteer, is also getting into the plant-based market. They’ll be launching a beefless ground product this year under a label called Happy Little Plants. It will be available at midwest Hy-Vee supermarkets to start.
